A new year begins: applications are open

After its international debut at the Air Cargo Challenge in Stuttgart, DIANA opens applications for 2026/27. No degree or experience requirements.

The 2025/26 year ended in Stuttgart. DIANA entered an international competition for the first time, the Air Cargo Challenge 2026, with the Eclipse —its first all-carbon-fibre aircraft and the largest of the edition— and finished 25th of 37 teams. That was the goal the association was founded for in 2022, and it is done.

Now for the next one. This year the competition is once again the XtraChallenge in Valencia, expected in early July 2027, and the team is starting to look further: in-house R&D, several aircraft per year, and experimental lines in rocketry and FPV drones.

That takes people. Applications for new members are open over the coming weeks, as every September. No specific degree or prior experience is required: just be a UCLM student, have the drive, and be able to give it five or six hours a week. There is a single, general form; the coordinators assign the department —Aerodynamics, Structures and manufacturing, Electronics and propulsion, or Logistics and operations— according to where each person fits best.
